The reveal trailer, however, is sufficiently weird and twisted, "virtues" that the Japanese are known for in their horror games - although we're not sure if it will be a pure representative of the genre - and we wouldn't want it to be otherwise. Of course, the chances of it not coming to our PCs are small, but we can remain optimistic until there is official confirmation. He's joined by the great Akira Yamaoka, a composer whose name is interwoven with Silent Hill and most recently The Medium.įor the game itself, unfortunately we don't know enough details such as the platforms and release date. We were hyped for a new Silent Hill game, as rumours had been rife, truth be told, but instead a new IP was unveiled by the creator of the first title in the classic series (and later, the Siren series creator) Keiichiro Toyama. The Game Awards trailer didn’t reveal any information about a release date or platforms. With the creative direction of Toyama and the musical expertise of Yamaoka, Slitterhead is certainly one to keep an eye on for horror game fans. The musician has worked on the fantastic soundtracks for The Medium, Dead by Daylight, and - of course - Silent Hill and the film Silent Hill: Revelation. While Slitterhead might not be Silent Hill, it’s definitely matching that unnerving tone of the unknown and peril.Ĭomposer Akira Yamaoka is also working on Slitterhead. Keiichiro Toyama last worked on the Gravity Rush series and fans have been waiting decades for a new Silent Hill entry. It seems like Slitterhead may be exactly what fans want from the legendary video game developer. The disjointed scenes of uncanny experiences are certainly unsettling. In the video, a man approaches a woman in an alleyway and she splits her face apart and mutates into an insect-like being. The announcement trailer shows off a series of disturbing and mysterious people throughout dense cities… all morphing into weird otherwordly creatures. Slitterhead is a strange and honestly gross peek into the slums of a dishevelled Japan. Keiichiro Toyama, the Creator and Writer of fan favourite Silent Hill series, unveils a new horror game at The Game Awards 2021.
